Services

Direct Support Services

Under the direction of Paul Murray, RN, for the past 17 years, our experienced staff of Responsible Persons provides supervision/supports in activities of daily living but recognize the importance of residents maintaining their independent living skills. Supports are provided in personal hygiene, daily routines and safe medication administration. All direct care support is provided by staff employed by Brookhouse Home and outside agencies are not used for level of care. This provides our residents with the comfort of consistent and well trained staff.

Clinical Supports

Unique to a Rest Home setting, we have positioned ourselves with community agencies to provide both Occupational and Physical therapy services that assist residents in acclimating to their new home and eliminating the need for residents to go outside the home for short term rehabilitation needs. If necessary, we have established a network with the finest rehab centers local to the area where residents can receive services and families are able to maintain their contact and visits. In addition, we have lab services that come to the home as needed and two local physicians who still make “house calls”.

Activities

Our Activities Director, Marsha DiCesare, designs an activity program that provides a stimulating environment and challenges residents both mentally and physically. We recognize the importance of residents being actively engaged throughout their day. We are fortunate to have a volunteer program that brings with it students from our community that bring a young and positive energy to our home. Resident families are very impressed by the variety of activities offered. From exercise to cultural arts and community outings, we provide active programs that encourage socialization both at home and the local community.

Dietary Services

Under the direction of our Executive Chef, Shawn Santerre, all meals are prepared on-site, nutritionally balanced and reflect the preferences and backgrounds of our residents. In addition to the 3 main meals, residents are provided a variety of fruits and healthy snacks throughout the day. The menu reflects both resident choices and the comfort foods that appeal to the senior generation. Often, Activities and Food Services combine to host any number of special occasions and events to be enjoyed by our residents. Annual sports events (i.e. Red Sox Opening Day, Super Bowl, Kentucky Derby) are all good reasons to get together and enjoy snacks and the company of friends. We have soup and dessert tastings, pizza days and birthday parties when staff and residents celebrate together!

Laundry and Housekeeping Services

Residents’ personal laundry is cared for by our staff. While we encourage our residents to maintain their skills in keeping their rooms tidy, our housekeeping staff is responsible for maintaining resident rooms and the common areas to ensure a clean and comfortable home.

Administrative Staff

Our Administrator, Judy Kane, has an extensive background in operations and working with seniors in residential care settings. Judy recognizes the balance in providing supports paired with honoring the personal choices, dignity and independence of our residents. She welcomes residents and family members to approach her at any time to ask questions or ask for help. Judy and her husband, Marvin, have resided in Salem for over 20 years.

As a not for profit home, we can assist residents in being enrolled in Medicaid or Transitional Assistance so regardless of financial resources or income, Brookhouse is a viable option for all senior women.
