Before Brookhouse Home my life was centered in a lonely apartment where my inability to negotiate stairs prevented any meaningful interactions in the community. I could not shower safely and had lost the ability to do light housekeeping. Finally, I could no longer stand to prepare meals, so my nutrition suffered.
I was growing desperate in my search for Assisted Living Facilities. The only one I could afford was in Idaho, but I wanted to continue living in Salem, MA. While surfing the Internet, I found Brookhouse Home. The day I took my tour and interviewed with Paul Murray, the Clinical Director, I knew I had found the place where I wanted to spend my retirement.
At Brookhouse Home I live in a beautiful and gracious Federalist mansion that preserves an amazing historical heritage. I have my own room with enough furniture and personal momentos to document my family relationships and a career I loved. I can safely shower and dress myself. My trusty walker and I can go sit on the patio at will or take a turn around the gardens. Meals are deliciously prepared by Chef Dennis and eaten in a community Dining Room. Many of the women who live here are becoming good friends.
Thanks to caring staff, Brookhouse supporters, and generous donors, I live in an elegant place that is not just my home, but also my community.
